Reared specimens of western Palaearctic Ophion Fabricius (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Ophioninae) in the National Museums of Scotland
Following recent changes to the taxonomy of north-western European Fabricius, 1798, species, host records are updated and new records presented for these nocturnal, koinobiont endoparasitoids of Lepidoptera larvae. Rearing data are presented for 22 species with two species re-described. Five species are recorded as new to Britain and Ireland.Shaw, Mark R ; Broad, Gavin R

Obtaining, recording and using host data for reared parasitoid wasps (Hymenoptera)
To redress the failings of the past, strong advice and protocols are given for appropriately recording the data of reared parasitoids, with particular emphasis on blithey overlooking the actual host. Deletion of the genus Aspicolpus Wesmael, 1838 from the British list, and a near-certain host for Vadumasonium vardyorum van Achterberg & Broad, 2013 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Brachistinae, Diospilini)
Errors of various kinds, including records of country occurrence and biological properties, that creep into the published entomological literature always cause problems because they are very difficult to expunge, even when it becomes clear from later experience that they really muse be errors. For species of parasitoid wasps these problems...Shaw, Mark R

Butterfly–parasitoid–hostplant interactions in Western Palaearctic Hesperiidae: a DNA barcoding reference library
The study of ecological interactions between plants, phytophagous insects and their natural enemies is an essential but challenging component for understanding ecosystem dynamics. Molecular methods such as DNA barcoding can help elucidate these interactions. In this study, we employed DNA barcoding to establish hostplant and parasitoid interactions with hesperiid butterflies,... -

Identity of wasp parasitoids (Hymenoptera) attacking Pieris brassicae (Linnaeus, 1758) (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) in South Africa
The alien invasive large cabbage white, Pieris brassicae (Linnaeus, 1758) (Pieridae), although introduced into South Africa more than 27 years ago, has not dramatically expanded its distribution, possibly because it is effectively attacked by two parasitoid wasp species. Even though there is a cohort of parasitoid species associated with P.... -

Sympiesis notata (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Eulophidae), a gregarious parasitoid of Hesperiidae (Lepidoptera), and some records of other Chalcidoidea associated with skipper butterflies in the Western Palaearctic
Sympiesis notata is a gregarious ectoparasitoid of skipper butterfly caterpillars. Other Lepidoptera larvae in leaf mines and leaf folds are attacked by the same morphospecies, but on these smaller hosts S. notata is usually a solitary parasitoid. In the context of reviewing possible effects of environmental change on insect–plant interactions, Braga and Janz (2021) suggested the use of “host repertoire” in place of “host range”. Habitat considerations for parasitis wasps (Hymenoptera)
Parasitic wasps operate at a high trophic level and, because of their biology, tend to be highly specialised, sometimes having very narrow host ranges with at least local monophagy a frequent outcome.
