Abstract
Join Dr Martin Goldberg, Principal Curator of Medieval Archaeology & History at the National Museum of Scotland, as he calls in to Kirkcudbright Galleries to tell you all about the new, fascinating discoveries from the Galloway Hoard.
Buried at the beginning of the 10th century in Dumfries and Galloway, the Hoard lay undisturbed for a thousand years before being discovered by a metal detectorist in September 2014. This incredible find brings together the richest collection of rare and unique Viking-age objects ever found in Britain or Ireland.
While Kirkcudbright Galleries is hosting the Hoard, important research has been underway at the National Museum of Scotland. This research has led to a new discovery! Resulting in updates and changes to the exhibition at Kirkcudbright Galleries – all of which Dr Goldberg will be telling you about at this event.
After the talk, you will have the opportunity to participate in live Q&A with Dr Goldberg.
