Abstract
Adrià¡n Maldonado is a man passionate about the human past; especially the history of medieval Scotland, early Christianity, the Viking period and burials in what we can call the archaeology of death. But not with a tragic connotation! In his research,
Maldonado seeks out the particularities in the act of burial, which reveal how people overcame their moments of greatest vulnerability.
More than that, Maldonado had the rare opportunity to study the fabulous Galloway Treasure, located in 2014 with the help of metal detectors and consisting of silver bars, bracelets, crystal and gold artifacts, as well as rare organic material.
In this interview, our guest talks about all of this, and makes a surprising connection between learning about archaeology and pop culture, in a trajectory that involves the analysis of emblematic works such as The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
