Abstract
The excavations produced four cannel coal/oil shale artefacts and one fragment of what is probably a gathered block of raw material (Table 19). Two of the artefacts are unfinished, confirming manufacture on site: bangle SF 278 and pendant roughout SF 497. The other two finished items are also bangles, both showing attempts at repair after breakage. This suggests that the raw materials were not always readily available for replacements, although they are recorded in eastern Fife.
