Abstract
Published in an eye catching and accessible format with beautiful interpretative reconstructive illustrations, this booklet presents the findings from a major community archaeology project that investigated the little understood hillforts around the Tay estuary between 2014-2018.
It tells the story of both forts on Moncreiffe Hill, and at Castle Law, Abernethy, the archaeological work undertaken and the critical role members of the local community played. It examines the structures uncovered and the artefacts found during excavation, including the beautiful Moredun Bronze Pin - a miniature masterpiece of early Celtic art. It also examines aspects of the construction, use and abandonment of each of the hillforts over 2,000 years ago, drawing the strands of evidence together and presenting them alongside current knowledge of the Iron Age environment and landscape in which the sites existed.
