Handlist of Science Instrument-Makers' Trade Catalogues 1600-1914

The bibliography is polemic in its intent. It attacks the idea that the ephemera of science is trivial and should not be preserved carefully. Its intention is to allow reassessment of the status of the trade literature of the science instrument industry, in the hope that museums and libraries will preserve that literature with more care, and scholars will use it as a historical source.
