Edited by Desmond Shawe-Taylor and Per Rumberg, Charles I: King and Collector is the catalogue accompanying the Royal Academy exhibition set to tell the compelling story of the British monarch who created one of the most stupendous art collections in history. Including authoritative essays revealing the historical context behind the collection, the book covers subjects such as the Italian Renaissance and the influence Charles exerted on the contemporary artists he commissioned until his execution when the collection was sold.
