Abstract
The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) was established in 1945 a short while after the foundation of the United Nations (UN), with its principal aim: the advancement of peace and security by promoting collaboration among nations through education, science and culture. As with the UN, its role and remit has developed over the last 75+ years, and in the year of the Nijmegen Limes Congress (2022), UNESCO celebrates the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention (UNESCO 1972).
