Abstract

In an Appendix to A Roman Frontier Post and its People, George Macdonald listed and discussed 249 Roman coins from the site, 1 a total which had been increased to 262 bythe time Macdonald published his first survey of ‘Roman coins found in Scotland’. 2 The number of recorded finds of Republican and Imperial coins minted no later than the reign of Septimius Severus has now risen to 364, with new discoveries reported in the regular series of coin finds records published since 1918.
