Abstract
Last year a talk on the Blair Drummond hoard by a colleague of Dr Maldonado attracted a record attendance for the Society. Continuing with the same theme we are delighted to welcome Adrian to present a lecture on the Galloway Hoard discovered in Kirkcudbrightshire in 2014.
Adrian is an archaeologist specialising in the early medieval period in Scotland. He joined the National Museum of Scotland in 2018 to carry out a full assessment of its collections relating to the Viking Age. Since then he has been a researcher on the unwrapping of the Galloway Hoard project helping to place this incredible hoard into its national and international context. In this lecture he will explain some of the key findings on the amazing objects from the hoard and link them to objects from central Scotland including some little known but important objects in Dunblane Museum.
