Abstract
Christmas lecture - Dr Alice Blackwell, ‘Medieval Art & Craft in Scotland’ For this years Christmas lecture we have Dr Alice Blackwell, specialist in early medieval archaeology and the Senior Curator from the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The lecture will bring back to life glass beads, jewellery, leather objects and textiles, which help us learn about Scottish early society, its international connections. Some objects are so contemporary in their aesthetic, while others are so elaborate, it is hard to understand how they could have been made between 4th and 7th century AD with, what we imagine, very simple tools.
