Abstract
A few days before being asked to contribute to the 100th Bulletin a glossy publication arrived on my desk - the Pine Hoverfly Conservation Strategy 2025-2039. In terms of Diptera conservation this is a remarkable document, not only in Scottish but also in European terms, representing the culmination of 35 years work involving numerous partners and funders. Above all it exemplifies the type of approach to Diptera conservation that we have developed in Scotland and which is further discussed below.
