Abstract
The most remarkable find from the Moredun excavations was a copper-alloy bird-headed pin (Figures 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9), unique and yet readily placed into a wider context. It is a miniature masterpiece of early Celtic art dating to
the 3rd century BC. A summary of the find and its wider context is followed by a full technical description.
