Abstract
National Museums Scotland has recently acquired and put on display a magnificent equinoctial ring dial, made for the Earl of Ilay in the early 18th century. This talk will introduce the dial, its owner and outline his interests in astronomy and importance to what became known as the Scottish Enlightenment.
