Abstract
IWM, HMS Belfast is a moored royal navy town-class cruiser built for combat at sea and strategic naval roles. It served in the Second World War and the Korean War. The museum on board spans nine floors and uses over 950 oral histories. The ship has been repurposed to create interactive opportunities, replica rooms and experiential settings. There are few display cases, panels are hung in keeping with the structure of the ship, labels are used sparingly but without diminishing the opportunity for learning.
