    The RAF Museum at Cosford emerged out of the interest of aviation enthusiasts who asked to visit a collection of historic aircrafts at the working training centre in the 1970s. At this time, the land belonged to the RAF, and it remains connected to an airbase and airfield. Over time, enthusiast visits were formalised and a museum grew around the collection. This museum differs from the one at Hendon in that it specifically starts around 1945 and focuses on later twentieth-century and early twenty-first century developments in aviation technology. It is also popular for its annual airshows.
